Our latest, patented, innovative design is a tent that stays on the vehicle and can be erected within about two minutes from turning your engine off.
When we looked at the market for either a tent or a roof tent to go on our travels we could not find anything to suit either our needs or pockets. So we have spent 18 months making what we feel is the right tent for people who travel and move on. Either stopping overnight or for the weekend.
Our design goal was a tent that went up fast, had no fiddly poles that could get lost or broken - (usually happens when you are a long way from the nearest tent supplier!) and a tent that was light and would sleep 2 adults comfortably, 3 at a push and that you could stand up in.
If your companions are shy or there are more than a couple of you why not hang a tent on either side of your Land Rover? That way you can comfortably sleep 4 adults or a maximum of 6. (Just make sure you do not drop the tent onto a hot exhaust pipe.)
Additionally we wanted a double skin tent so that the outer could be rolled up to enjoy the scenery and get plenty of air on hot nights. What is the point of travelling to far flung places if you can't see the stars?
Enjoying the stars is one thing but you don't want to also share the view with nasty things that go buzz in the night and bite so we built the inner from "No see um" mesh to give you the best protection whilst not restricting your view. (We suggest that you keep the outer down in Lion country - not sure why but Lions haven't figured out that food in the shape of humans live in tents.).
So at the end of a long day you park your Land Rover with the side without the tent facing into any bad weather and settle down with the vehicle becoming both a wind and weather break.
In the morning when it is time to move on your tent simply rolls up back into the bag and you flip it over onto the roof rack - simples!
Finally if you are in dire straits you can simply tie a rope between 2 trees and hang your tent from that and yes we have tried it.
Though designed for use with Land Rovers, you can happily use the tent with the Discovery, Shogun or any 4x4 with roof bars by using a couple of bike rack clips from Halfords and a roofing batten or even a branch.
